Maxayn Lewis

Maxayn Lewis The Woman, The Voice, The Musician, The Composer,..is a singular Force of Nature.

Born in Tulsa Oklahoma, she burst upon the music world when Ike and Tina Turner literally plucked Paulette Parker from her parent's home to tour the world...as an Ikette.

Her amazing career has seen her in demand for recording sessions and on multiple hits like; "New Attitude" by Patti Labelle.

Movies - She is the singing voice of Ma Rainey to Viola Davis' portrayal of the Blues pioneer that garnered several Oscar nominations. To quote score composer Branford Marsalis, "Maxayn grew up in a time when the Blues was in all American music be it Jazz, R&B, Rock & Roll, or Gospel. I had faith that she would be able to create a sound to represent the emotional meaning of the lyrics, a sound of the past and the present, authentic and relatable."

It was not lost on Branford and the Director George C. Wolfe that Maxayn had toured as a featured vocalist with Bobby "Blue" Bland.

Her life is like a superhero movie, from those early days with The Ike and Tina Turner Review (Tina Turner referred to Maxayn as 'Britannica' because Tina thought of her as so brilliant) all the way through today.

MAXAYN, the group that she formed with Andre Lewis, Marlo Henderson, and Emry Thomas did 'high concept, socially conscious funk rock as she wrote, played piano and SANG the leads on 3 albums; MAXAYN, Mindful and Bail Out For Fun!' These albums were of legend, attracting the likes of Sly And The Family Stone, Stevie Wonder and The Gap Band to their live appearances...the influence on Sly manifested on his albums.

As if her decades long career as an Artist working with;

Aretha, Patti Labelle, Tina Turner, Celine Dion, Michael Jackson, Stephen Stills, John Fogerty, The Doobie Brothers, Steve Marriott, The Gap Band, Chaka Khan, Quincy Jones, and Smokey Robinson, was not enough, Maxayn Lewis is passing on her vast experience to younger Artists, in fact, to ALL Artists, vocally coaching them for their albums and live appearances to reach their full potential, as the 'Vocal Architect', with her unique Max-Vox Factor/Vocal Architect method.

A personal message directly from Maxayn, to her fans around the world…

I’m so excited to have you here!

After much contemplation, and with the help of some incredibly talented people, this is the official page of the real Maxayn.

Getting here has been quite a magical journey that began in one of the most unlikely places…..

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, (now made famous by the recognition of the history of Black Wall Street)...I fell to Earth, and gently landed, as the first-born to my beautiful young parents, Emzie and Lorene Parker. They chose the name, Paulette, and away we all went, diving into life together….

Early on I was mesmerized by the music that filled our house daily…..Mahalia, Miles, Ella, Ray, Jimmy Smith, Duke Ellington, and so many more, were in the mix with Little Junior Parker, Freddy King, Muddy Waters, Bobby “Blue” Bland and then the Motown era swept in, along with The Beatles, Sly & The Family Stone and of course….James Brown! I was completely  enthralled with every aspect of what and how they found their way to gain access to make such amazing music.

As our family grew, with the births of my siblings so did my interest in what motivated these incredible, beautiful people. Then I heard Nina Simone, Nancy Wilson, and Cannonball Adderley, and as a  young student attending Music Conservatory, I was obsessed, I LOVED it. I had no idea of how, or if, I  could get such an opportunity.

Staring at the Milky Way sky on summer nights, my sister and I would dream and fantasize about the lives we would lead in our future. We dreamed of traveling the world and having magical encounters with people from everywhere. Dreams are powerful, and we just KNEW we  would live those dreams. How those dreams came to fruition is still a secret only the Universe holds. It  has been pondered through the ages, that perhaps we are merely souls dreaming of lives in the flesh,  imagining the sun, wind and rain on our skin, breathing, loving and experiencing this wondrous world,  each in our own way.

And if it is so, then I choose Music, as my way, for it has chosen me.

I can, I will, I am,

Maxayn
